Tour Plan
-
Day 1: Arrival
Arrive at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO), where an Evya Adventures representative will meet and transfer you to your hotel. Relax in comfortable accommodations with modern amenities including Wi-Fi, hot water, and a swimming pool. In the evening, attend a detailed pre-climb briefing with your guides to ensure you are fully prepared for the adventure ahead. Note: Check-in starts at 2:00 PM. To avoid extra transfer costs, it’s recommended to coordinate group arrival times. -
Day 2: Trekking from Umbwe Gate to Umbwe Camp
After breakfast, meet your Evya Adventures guide and support crew for introductions and a final gear check. You’ll then drive to the Umbwe Gate (1,800 m) where the trek begins. After registering with park authorities, start your steep ascent through dense rainforest. Expect humid conditions and possible rain showers as you climb steadily toward Umbwe Camp (2,850 m). Upon arrival, the support team will have set up camp and prepared dinner. Tonight marks your first night at high altitude — drink plenty of water and rest well. Trekking Time: 5–7 hours Distance: 11 km (6.8 miles) -
Day 3: Trekking from Umbwe Camp to Barranco Camp
Enjoy breakfast before ascending from the rainforest into moorland terrain. As you gain altitude, the air becomes cooler and the vegetation sparser. On clear days, you’ll catch your first glimpse of Mount Meru. By midday, you’ll reach Barranco Camp (3,900 m), set dramatically within a vast volcanic valley. After lunch, relax and enjoy the incredible views — this rest period also supports acclimatization. Trekking Time: 4–5 hours Distance: 6 km (3.7 miles) -
Day 4: Acclimatization Day at Barranco Camp
Spend the day acclimatizing at Kilimanjaro’s most picturesque campsite. From Barranco, take in panoramic views of the Dendrosenecio Valley and the Barranco Wall — tomorrow’s challenge. Optional short hikes to higher elevations allow your body to adapt better to the altitude. Enjoy a relaxed day to rest, hydrate, and prepare for the upcoming summit stages. -
Day 5: Trekking from Barranco Camp to Karanga Camp
After an early breakfast, begin the exciting climb up the Barranco Wall, a non-technical but exhilarating scramble rewarded with spectacular views of Kibo’s southern glaciers. Continue trekking through undulating terrain toward Karanga Camp (3,995 m), crossing small valleys and ridges along the way. After lunch and a brief rest, take a short acclimatization hike toward Barafu Camp (4,270 m) before descending back to Karanga for dinner and overnight stay. Trekking Time: 4–5 hours Distance: 5 km (3.1 miles) -
Day 6: Trekking from Karanga Camp to Barafu Camp
Today’s trek leads to Barafu Camp (4,673 m), your final base before the summit. The route is rocky and winds through alpine desert terrain. Upon arrival, rest and hydrate before taking a short acclimatization hike to Kosovo Camp (4,870 m), then return to Barafu for an early dinner. Go to bed early — your summit push begins around midnight. Trekking Time: 4–5 hours Distance: 6 km (3.7 miles)** Acclimatization Hike: 1–2 hours, 2 km (1.2 miles)** -
Day 7: Ascent to Uhuru Peak and Descent to Millennium Camp
At midnight, begin your final ascent to Uhuru Peak (5,895 m), Africa’s highest point. The climb is steady but demanding due to the altitude. With the guidance of your personal Evya Adventures guides, you’ll reach the summit in time for sunrise — a breathtaking reward for your effort. After taking photos and enjoying the moment, descend to Barafu Camp for a short rest, then continue to Millennium Camp (3,950 m) for dinner and overnight stay. Trekking Time: 8–12 hours Distance: 15 km (9.3 miles) -
Day 8: Descent from Millennium Camp to Mweka Gate
After breakfast, begin your final descent through lush rainforest to Mweka Gate (1,640 m). Celebrate your accomplishment with your guides and crew, collect your Evya Adventures summit certificates, and share your stories before transferring back to your hotel for a relaxing evening. Trekking Time: 4–5 hours Distance: 12 km (7.4 miles) -
Day 9: Departure
Enjoy a leisurely morning at the hotel before your transfer to Kilimanjaro International Airport. Check-out is at 11:00 AM, with the option for late check-out if your flight departs in the evening.
