Complete formalities before trekking to Mti Mkubwa Camp (2,650 m / 8,694 ft) through the rainforest. Upon arrival, enjoy lunch prepared by the mountain crew. In the afternoon, take a short acclimatization hike to Shira 1 Camp (3,095 m / 10,154 ft) and return to Mti Mkubwa for dinner. This day is essential for beginning altitude acclimatization.
  • Day 3: Trekking from Mti Mkubwa Camp to Shira 1 Camp
After breakfast, continue trekking to Shira 1 Camp (3,610 m / 11,843 ft) over 5 km, taking 5–6 hours. Along the way, enjoy stunning views of the Shira Plateau and Kibo Volcano. Upon arrival, have lunch and rest or explore the nearby area. This gradual ascent supports proper acclimatization for higher elevations ahead.
  • Day 4: Trekking from Shira 1 Camp to Shira 2 Camp
Depart Shira 1 Camp and trek to Shira 2 Camp (3,850 m / 12,631 ft), a 7 km journey taking 3–4 hours. Optionally, hike Cathedral Peak (3,872 m / 12,703 ft) for panoramic views before lunch. Later, enjoy a short acclimatization hike toward Lava Tower Camp (4,270 m / 14,009 ft) before returning to Shira 2 Camp.
  • Day 5: Trekking from Shira 2 Camp to Lava Tower and Barranco Camp
Leave Shira 2 Camp and ascend to Lava Tower (4,600 m / 15,091 ft), spending 1–2 hours there for acclimatization and lunch. Then descend to Barranco Camp (3,900 m / 12,795 ft), where the famous Barranco Wall awaits for the next day’s climb. The trek for the day covers 12 km in 6–8 hours, including ascents and descents that help your body adjust to altitude changes.
  • Day 6: Trekking from Barranco Camp to Karanga Camp
Begin the day early with a hearty breakfast before hiking the Barranco Wall, a one-hour climb offering photo opportunities with Kibo Volcano in the background. Continue trekking to Karanga Camp (3,990 m / 13,090 ft) over 5 km with several ascents and descents. After lunch, take an acclimatization hike toward Barafu Camp (4,270 m / 14,009 ft) and return to Karanga Camp.
  • Day 7: Trekking from Karanga Camp to Barafu Camp
After breakfast, hike 6 km to Barafu Summit Camp (4,673 m / 15,331 ft), the starting point for the final night summit to Uhuru Peak. Upon arrival, rest in tents already set up by Evya Adventures staff and conserve energy for the night ascent.
